5 Reasons To Hire A Magician For Trade Shows & Business Expos

Make your business & product stand out at the next trade show!

Trade shows and business expos are interesting in that you want to sell as much as possible, and the best way to do so is to have the right product for your consumer. Even if someone could fulfil the saying and "sell snow to Eskimos / Inuits", they would be wasting their time compared to selling them something that was actually useful to them. That said, even if you have the perfect product, a lot of good it does your customer if they never know it exists. And even if they know how it exists, until they understand what the product actually is and how it can help them, they can't make an informed decision on whether it's right for them or not.

So the three most important things are to have a product people need (whether it's cars, insurance, computer software, or a million other possible things), let everyone know your product exists, and then tell them why they need it. While those sounds simple, actually accomplishing them can be easier said than done, as there is usually so much happening and so little time, even getting the attention of possible leads can be extremely difficult. Here are some ways that hiring a competent magician can help you and your business sell far more products, as I have learned running my Gold Coast company Blaze Magic over the years:

1. Magic Will Make You Stand Out

As everyone else is milling around at their booth or table, hoping someone will stop long enough to be engaged, you can have someone actively performing and forming a crowd, ready for your sales staff to do their thing. Of course, a bad magician could actually scare people away, but if you are willing to do a little bit of research and pay a fair price for a great one, they can not only draw a crowd to your booth, but also explain the advantages and features of your product as they perform their show.

2. A Magician Can Go Places You Can't

This one depends on the rules of the event, but at many, a magician is free to wander around showing magic to everyone, and afterward giving them your card or even a voucher for a gift, redeemable at your booth. That is what we did at the last event I of Blaze Magic performed for, and the only problem is I ran out of vouchers to give away after the first hour or so. Having things printed is cheap, so make sure to have too many vouchers or business cards, when a single sale is usually more than enough to cover them, and much more.

3. A Good Magician Can Think Outside The Box

There are many, many opportunities at trade shows that most people would never even consider, but they can make all the difference in the world. For instance, there are many magic tricks which are very cheap and easy, but truly astonishing when performed correctly. Blaze Magic, and most other experienced magicians will be able to suggest many different magic tricks you can have made up (with all of your business details included), so they can be performed and then given away to the crowd. That way, not only will your potential clients be carrying your business details with them (and probably for far longer than a business card, which usually gets dumped as soon as they arrive home), but every time they perform the magic trick themselves for friends or family, they also see your business details, and may become a future customer themselves.

4. Magic Can Energize People

It's all well and good to say you need to tell people how your product can help them, but unless they really feel it and they are in the right emotional state, they may not fully take it in and ignore something that could have been perfect for them. In our current society, we are bombarded with so many advertisements that are brains do their best to block it out and we start to become cynical every time someone offers us a product. As a result, if you really want someone to listen to you, you often need to change their mental state and break down their cynical wall before you can reach them. Magic and illusions that appear to achieve impossible things are one of the best possible things, as most people cannot comprehend exactly what happened, which can help to put them into a more childlike state of wonder and wanting to learn, rather than just trying to block everything out.

5. Magic Will Make Everyone Remember You

At my last show, not everyone I performed for visited the booth I advertised, but they all remembered what I did for them, and as a result, not only remembered Blaze Magic, but more importantly, the product I was advertising. Each time I visited the booth myself to refill my supply of vouchers and business cards, they would let me know how popular my illusions were, and how my illusions were the talk of the business expo, which of course meant that they would be the one booth everyone would know and remember. When you pay for advertising (whether on TV, magazine, or a magician at your trade show), you should not only take into account all the sales you are generating right at the time, but also those you get a week, a month or even a year later, just by creating brand recognition and being remembered when someone needs your services. The ultimate goal is sales, but always remember that helping people and fulfilling their needs is the best way to achieve it.
