Reasons a PS 4 may overheat

Why is my PS 4 overheating?

A PS 4 can overheat for many reasons.  Usually a build up of dust over the years starts to become stuck within the metal heat sink grill.  This then dosen't allow the hot air to get out of the Playstation 4  console as when the console was first new.  The extra heat created can also lead to the solder degrading and the Graphics/Cpu Apu chip not being detected by the console.  A sharp impact on the PS 4 console can also break the seal between the thermal paste and the heatsink causing the PS4 to reach dangerous temps.

At City PC Repairs we advise that your PS 4 console is stripped and cleaned and new thermal paste is applied as part of a regular service to maintain your gaming console.

The good news is that if your PS 4 does begin to overheat then a message will pop up on the screen letting you know.  It's then that you need to take action to preserve the life span of your gaming console.  When cleaning the inside of your console its best to take the entire console apart, including removal of the fans.  Any major brand of thermal paste can be used on the heatsink as long as the Apu and the heatsink are cleaned properly.
