About: Egypt is essentially a plateau divided by the Nile Valley into the Western and Easten Dessert. About 95 percent of the population lives in the Nile Valley and Delta. Egypt and the Nile are of course an important foundation of Western civilization. They have done some work on Ancient Egypt, but have virtually no details about modern Egypt. Egypt was conquered by the Arabs in the 7th century. At the time Egypt was largely Coptic Christian. The country was gradually Islamicized. Egypt is the most populace country in the Arab world. Traditional clothes appear to be still widely worn in Egypt, especially in rural areas. Until after World war II, traditional clothes were almost universally worn. Western clothes have gradually become more common, especially in urban areas. They hope that Egyptian readers will help offer some details on Egyptian clothing styles.
