Dealership Glass Passes Audit by the Auto Glass Safety CouncilThe Auto Glass Safety Council (AGSC hereafter) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the safe repair and replacement of auto glass. The AGSC was founded and is supported by companies in the auto glass repair and replacement industry that keep safe repair and replacement as their primary goal. AGSC is an accredited American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standards development organization. It has developed and continuously maintains North America’s only auto glass replacement standard, the Auto Glass Replacement Safety Standard (AGRSS™) ANSI/AGSC/AGRSS 004-2018 which addresses procedures, education, and product performance.
What separates AGSC is the validation process that all members must undergo. Registered Member Companies participate in periodic third-party inspections of the company, personnel, and procedures. During the validation, the auditors verify that a company’s actions and answers coincide with the AGRSS™ Standard and the company’s adhesive manufacturer’s instructions.
“AGSC Registered Member Companies do not just say that they follow the AGRSS™ Standard,” says AGSC president Debra Levy. “They prove it by participating in the third-party validation review process. We salute Dealership Glass and its fellow Registered Member Companies for proving their commitment to the safety of their customers through this rigorous process.”
Dealership Glass in Seattle, Wash., recently passed as compliant on an on-site safety audit by the Auto Glass Safety Council (AGSC) by undergoing a third-party validation process required by all Registered Members of the AGSC. When asked, if there were obvious benefits to the business, for joing the AGSC and implementing the standards set forth; management of Dealership Glass had the following opinion about it: "It wasn't easy to implement the standards and methodologies at first, there were some growing pains. Now that the systems and standards are a part of our company culture, it has raised our level of professionalism and the quality of our services as an organization. We advertise the fact that we are a member company, it seems that most days, our customers have questions or comments about it. If you are in the auto glass industry, it seems to me that you should feel an obligation to adopt this set of standards. It’s simply a matter of safety."
The AGSC offers several levels and various types of Technician Accreditation:
- AGSC Qualified Replacement Technician – applies to technicians who have passed the AGSC general technician certification test but do not work for AGSC Registered Member Companies.
