I'm not just a Master Piano Technician - I'm also a lifelong musician. I provide excellent piano tuning and servicing throughout Philadelphia and into NYC. I am committed to providing excellent service, without breaking the bank!

That's why I'm a Thumbtack Top Pro and have a 4.9 rating. My past clients have been highly satisfied with my work, and I'm rated highly for value, punctuality, and professionalism.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

If you have a piano you'd like to have me service, you can get in touch with me through Thumbtack, by email at ryan@legrandpiano .com, or by my cell at 818 .268.3232 (I grew up in Los Angeles if you're wondering where the area code is from)

I'll talk to you about your piano, if there are any other things that might need my attention (like sticking keys), and then we can find a time that works for both of us for me to come out and work on your piano.

During the appointment, I also make notes on things that I've noticed about your piano as I'm going through it. I'll often times encounter some sluggish keys, an uneven touch in the action, screws that aren't quite tightened, grooved hammers, or so many other things. If it's a minor and can be fixed in less than 15 minutes, I'll fix it right there on the spot, without any extra charge!

For those bigger things I notice, I'll let you know what they are, how important they are to address, and about how much they would cost to fix. I try hard to make it a no-pressure environment, and I understand that every pianist has different needs, different expectations, and different budgets!

I also have an online booking system online at legrandpiano.com/book-online

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

As both a lifelong musician (I've been playing piano since 7 and I also perform professionally as a classical vocalist)and a Master Piano Technician, my expertise helps fellow pianists get the most out of their instruments.

In addition to my training through the Piano Technicians Academy and Master Piano Technicians of America, I also studied Vocal Performance and Composition at California Institute of the Arts, Willamette University, and was recognized as a California Arts Scholar.

I began to play piano at the age of seven and loved it since day one. Growing up, my parents actually had to ban me from the piano bench before school so we would get to class on time!

Every time my parents would have a piano tuner over to service our Everett piano, I would watch intently and try to figure out what was going on. I've always loved figuring out how things worked, so there was a strong natural draw to piano technology.

Throughout my high school days, I fervently studied piano tuning and repair before being certified through the Piano Technicians Academy. I founded LeGrand Piano Services in 2013 and have faithfully served the community ever since. I believe that music is an essential part of life and that the work I do helps to keep the music alive.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I've always had a burning passion for music-making. I began playing piano at age 7 and began my adventures in music composition a year later (and I still compose classical music to this day, working mainly with orchestral works).

I kept up with my piano instruction and one time when my parents had my Everet studio upright tuned, I found myself fascinated by the tuning process and how the instrument itself works. And it all went from there.

I began to study the art of piano tuning, with support from my father and studied throughout high school independently. I then attended the Piano Technician Academy and became a Certified Piano Technician and a member of the Master Piano Technicians of America.

My wife Julie and I lived and serviced the Pacific Northwest for 6 years, and just recently moved to Morrisville, PA where I service Philadelphia, New Jersey, and parts of NYC.
